The W8s in 2007
Doug turned 24 and Sarah turned 23. We celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary. We live in Madison, WI where we’ve been for the last year and a half. We adopted our first baby, an ugly and utterly adorable puppy named Frank. We love life and are enjoying every minute of it!
DOUG: Doug goes to college full-time studying Biology at Edgewood College and works full-time evenings and weekends with KarCom, a Verizon Wireless retailer. He just started that new job at the end of November- so far he loves it! He is running the Shorewood store, but occasionally helps out at other locations around town. Previously, he had worked all of 2007 doing sales at Batteries Plus, a retail and commercial battery store. He also volunteers every Sunday at the UW Children's Hospital keeping the kids company and playing games, plays basketball weekly, and pumps iron at the gym to get his sexy on. He enjoys cruising his S4, playing sports, watching movies, hanging out with friends, and kickin’ it with his boy Frank. We enjoy trying new things and being active. We got some great bikes in July and had a fun end of the summer cycling. Doug serves in our church, The Church or Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as the second counselor still in the young men’s presidency hanging out with and teaching the 12 to13-yr-old boys on Sundays and Wednesdays.
SARAH: Sarah still works full-time as an associate financial rep at Northwestern Mutual, where she’s been the last year and a half. She basically manages everything behind the scenes for a financial advisor’s business, doing marketing, prep, analyses, and client management. It’s constantly a new challenge, pushing for bigger goals and mastering more skills and expertise. For the last 3 months, Sarah has been working out with a friend in the mornings at 5 am, and although they just chat and laugh most of the time, it’s been fun. Hopefully 2008 will see some races! Sarah also participates in a monthly book club with a group of 20/30-something women. She loves reading and learning. She also enjoys photography and scrapbooking when there’s time and has spent many hours during the summer with her sister-in-law and other friends at a shop in town working on some projects. Most evenings are spent snuggling and cuddling with Frank. Sarah serves in our church as a primary teacher for a class of three Autism/Asperger’s boys aging from 5 to 7-years-old on Sundays. Prior to this new and challenging calling in November, Sarah had been teaching the sunbeams for a year, a class of 3 and 4-year old children on Sundays.
FRANK: In September we adopted a puppy from a rescue organization and named him Frank. He is now 5-months-old. He is mostly Pug but might have a little Boston Terrier in him, a mutt mix called a “Bug.” He is a full-time job! He loves walking, cuddling, and most of all EATING! He's a 16 lb chunker now…but it's sexy. He's got a girlfriend named Pearl but flirts with Delilah across the hall- kind of dangerous, but that's how he rides. He snores incredibly loudly and his favorite toy is a hedgehog. All he knows so far is sit and speak, but hopefully we’ll have time to work with him more in 2008. He loves play dates with his sister Phyllis, his doggie cousins Kyra, Tux, Duncan, Blue, & Porter, and his other friends Oliver, Sam, Pearl, Delilah, Chloe, Axle, & Tobin. He hasn’t figured out the mystery of a laser pointer yet and will chase the red dot on the carpet for hours on end, cracking us up and bouncing off the baseboards. He makes us laugh every day and although he keeps us busy, we wouldn’t trade him for the world! He's our little baby!
EVENTS: In January 2007, Sarah went to a regional work conference in Chicago. In March, she went to an advanced training conference for work in Milwaukee and passed her investment licensing exams. The spring was kind of one big blur we barely remember. In June, Doug and Sarah drove cross country to attend his cousin’s wedding and visit friend’s in Utah, but we hit a deer in Iowa, and the car was stranded for 2 months getting repairs, then we finally got it back in August---phew! In July, Doug and Sarah went to a week-long work conference in Milwaukee, the Northwestern Mutual annual meeting, celebrating the company’s 150th anniversary. What a fun time full of celebrating! We also went for our first 20-mile bike ride and invested in padded-butt shorts the second we could walk again. In August, Doug joined Sarah and her entire extended family at a huge Tinkler-Eisenbise Family Reunion in Trafalgar, Indiana for a weekend of swimming, boating, fishing, and hanging out around the campfire. Also in August was our 4th anniversary and moved into a new, bigger apartment that enabled us to do our next big adventure- adopt Frank! We spent a week painting the new place with the help of a few friends, and Sarah might have gone a little overboard with 6 colors, but it looks warm and inviting--we love it! In September, along came our furry baby and we spent a long time in the wonder and adjustment of that. In October, we had fun going to a pumpkin patch and carving pumpkins. In November, we spent Thanksgiving with Sarah’s family in Huntley, Illinois and they day after with Doug’s parents in Batavia, Illinois. In mid-December we celebrated the Tinkler Christmas with Sarah’s family and we plan on spending time relaxing and enjoying the holiday vacation for a week and a half with Doug’s family.
